Carignano
Carignano is a black grape variety with a long history, known for its depth of colour, its substantial tannins and its ability to give structured, rich and long-lived wines. Historically widespread across the Mediterranean basin, it is known by different names: Carignan in France (above all in Languedoc and Roussillon), Cariñena in Spain, and Carignano in Italy, where it has found its most typical expression in south-western Sardinia, and in particular in the Sulcis. In this area, thanks to the sandy soils and the dry, breezy climate, Carignano ripens perfectly, giving soft, warm and round wines, often from pre-phylloxera bush vines.

Sulcis
The Sulcis is a historic winegrowing area in south-western Sardinia, taking in the territory of the old mining region now divided between the Sulcis-Iglesiente and part of the Medio Campidano. This harsh, sun-baked land, stretching between sandy coasts, limestone ridges and the islands of Sant'Antioco and San Pietro, is the heart of the production of Carignano del Sulcis, one of the great reds of the Mediterranean. The dry, windy, maritime climate, combined with sandy and pebbly soils, makes it possible to grow vines on their own roots, preserving ancient indigenous varieties and guaranteeing intense, elegant and very long-lived wines.

In stainless steel
Ageing in stainless steel is a winemaking practice aimed at preserving the freshness, aromatic integrity and varietal purity of the wine. It is used above all for white, rosé and young red wines, but also for light, easy-drinking reds that do not require maturation in wood. Stainless steel vessels are inert and impermeable to oxygen, so they do not interact with the wine: this makes it possible to bring out the fruity, floral and mineral component of the grape and of the terroir.
