Mormoreto (2020) - Frescobaldi

In the heart of Tuscany, among the hills that embrace the Castello di Nipozzano, Mormoreto is born, a wine that tells a story of rebirth and innovation. The Frescobaldi estate, with centuries of winemaking tradition behind it, decided in 1983 to plant international varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot on land that had once been home to medieval vineyards. It was a bold gamble, but Mormoreto soon became a byword for excellence, showing that tradition can be married to innovation. The 2020 vintage carries that legacy on, bringing with it the appeal of a story renewed with every harvest.

The appellation: Toscana IGT

Toscana IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) is an appellation created in 1995 to allow Tuscan producers to experiment with new expressions of wine outside the strict production rules of the DOCs and DOCGs. This category gave rise to the famous Super Tuscans, wines of excellent quality often made with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, but also with native varieties such as Sangiovese, Vermentino and Trebbiano.
