Vermentino di Gallura DOCG is Sardinia’s only Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita and one of the most typical and authoritative expressions of the Vermentino grape in Italy. It is produced exclusively in Gallura, the north-eastern area of the island, between the provinces of Sassari and Olbia-Tempio, on poor but free-draining granite soils, close to the sea and swept by the mistral. This dry white stands out for its marine freshness, salinity, aromatic character and structure, which can range from immediate drinkability to complex, long-lived versions, especially in the Superiore type.

Vermentino
Vermentino is a highly prized white grape variety, found mainly in the coastal regions of the Mediterranean. Its origin is debated, but it is thought to come from the Iberian peninsula or from Liguria, from where it would then have spread to Sardinia, Tuscany and Corsica. Today it is also grown in some areas of southern France.

The combination of altitudes of between 300 and 500 metres, a dry, windy climate and poor soils gives the wines of Gallura salinity, freshness, mineral tension and a unique ability to express their territory.
