The vine of Vignolé Aglianico Rosato Sannio DOC

Aglianico

Aglianico is one of the greatest red grape varieties of Italy and of the Mediterranean, often called the "Barolo of the South" for its ability to produce deep, austere and long-lived wines. Most probably originating in Magna Graecia (the name may derive from "Hellenico"), it is today grown mainly in Basilicata and Campania, where it gives rise to some of the most complex and structured wines in the peninsula. Its distinctive features are a marked natural acidity and a substantial tannic structure, which call for long ageing in order to show at their best. When well handled, Aglianico gives vibrant, elegant and deeply territorial wines.

The Beneventano grows native varieties of very ancient tradition, such as Falanghina, Greco, Fiano, Aglianico and Coda di Volpe, capable of giving fresh, intense and authentic wines, increasingly appreciated both in Italy and abroad.

Ageing methods used for Vignolé Aglianico Rosato Sannio DOC

In bottle

Ageing in bottle is a fundamental stage in the production of quality wines, during which the wine continues to develop in an oxygen-free environment. This process allows the wine to harmonise its components, soften the tannins and develop more complex, mature aromas, without the external influence of wood or other materials. Ageing in bottle can last from a few months to several years, depending on the type of wine and the style sought, and is particularly used for structured red wines, long-lived whites and metodo classico sparkling wines, improving their elegance, finesse and length on the palate.
