Wines aged in barrique (1–6 months)
Theageing in barrique for 1 to 6 months is an intervention measured and gentle, designed to give volume, micro-oxygenation and slight developed notes, while at the same time keeping the varietal identity of the wine.
It is a choice often reserved for young or fruity wines which benefit from a a very short spell in wood, useful for smoothing rough edges, to integrate the body better and to develop an aromatic profile more elegant, with no dominance of toasty or vanilla notes.
Characteristics of short ageing in barrique

Structured whites or fresh reds

Aim: roundness, balance and greater primary complexity
