Beaujolais-Villages and its wines

Beaujolais-Villages is one of the most representative appellations of the Beaujolais wine region, in the south of Burgundy, France. This area takes in 38 villages spread across a hilly landscape of granite and sandy soils, ideal for growing Gamay, the region’s emblematic grape. The varied terroir and the temperate climate, influenced both by the Alps and by the Massif Central, help to create fresh, fruity and hugely enjoyable wines.
What is Beaujolais-Villages?
Beaujolais-Villages is a controlled appellation of origin (AOC) that sits between basic Beaujolais and the Beaujolais crus in terms of quality. The wines may be produced in 38 selected villages, where the soil and climate conditions are particularly favourable. The appellation allows the production of red and rosé wines, mainly based on Gamay, which here shows great aromatic intensity and pleasant freshness.Characteristics of Beaujolais-Villages Wines
