Côte d'Or and its wines

Côte d'Or: My personal top three
The Côte d’Or, in the heart of the Burgundy, is one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world. Divided into two main subzones, the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, this belt of hills is famous for producing some of the finest red and white wines on the planet. Here you find legendary appellations such as Romanée-Conti, Montrachet and Chambertin, along with a myriad of vineyards classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru.

What is the Côte d’Or?

The Côte d’Or is a wine region of Burgundy stretching some 60 kilometres from north to south and taking in some of the most prestigious vineyards in the world. The Côte de Nuits, in the northern part, specialises in the great red wines based on Pinot Nero, while the Côte de Beaune, to the south, is known for its extraordinary white wines based on Chardonnay and for the most elegant reds. Each village, such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée and Puligny-Montrachet, is a byword for quality and winemaking tradition.

Characteristics of Côte d’Or Wines

  2. Unique Terroir: Each plot of vineyard reflects the nuances of the soil and the local microclimate.
  3. Longevity: The wines of the Côte d’Or, especially the Grand Cru, can age for decades, developing complex, deep aromas.
