Trento and its wines

Trento, the capital of the region of Trentino-Alto Adige, is also one of the most important centres of Italian sparkling winemaking thanks to the production of Trento DOC, a traditional method sparkling wine of the very highest quality.
The wine-growing area of Trento develops along the the slopes of the Adige Valley and on the mountain terraces, where the an Alpine climate with wide temperature swings, the constant ventilation and the limestone-dolomite soils create ideal conditions for obtaining elegant, fine, long-lived sparkling wines.
As well as the traditional method, the area is also well suited to making fresh and aromatic whites and of mountain reds from native and international grapes.
