Verduno and its wines

The term Pelaverga, in territorial terms, refers to the small, prestigious area of Verduno, in the north of the Langhe, where one of the most distinctive red wines of Piedmont is born: the Verduno Pelaverga DOC.
This hillside micro-zone, overlooking the Tanaro valley and close to Barolo, is characterised by soils sandy-limestone, climate temperate continental and strong sun exposure that encourages slow, aromatic ripening.
Pelaverga Piccolo
The Pelaverga Piccolo, an extremely rare indigenous grape variety, finds its ideal habitat at Verduno, giving rise to red wines spicy, elegant and unmistakable, unique in their aromatic quality and lightness.
What is the Pelaverga (Verduno) wine district?
The geographical reference is the DOC Verduno Pelaverga, recognised in 1995.
It covers the area of:
Verduno (the heart of the appellation)
Part of Roddi
Part of La Morra
Production focuses on a single style of wine: the red from Pelaverga Piccolo, as a single variety or nearly so.
