Vouvray is a prestigious appellation of Loire Valley, on the right bank of the river, at east of Tours, in the the département of Indre-et-Loire.
Renowned for its white wines produced exclusively from Chenin Blanc, Vouvray is one of the most versatile appellations in France: here they produce dry, medium-dry, sweet and sparkling wines, all sharing freshness, elegance and extraordinary longevity.

The terroir, made up of limestone (tuffeau), clay and siliceous soils, together with the a continental climate with an Atlantic influence, encourages slow ripening of the grapes, enhancing their the aromatic complexity and the acid structure.

The appellation Vouvray AOC, recognised in 1936, covers the following municipalities:

• Vouvray, Chançay, Noizay, Reugny, Rochecorbon, Parçay-Meslay, Tours (partly)

Production includes:

• Vouvray Sec (dry)

• Vouvray Demi-Sec (medium-dry)

• Vouvray Moelleux (sweet, also from late harvest or botrytis)

• Vouvray Mousseux / Pétillant (traditional method sparkling wine)
