A new wine order, but this time it was very easy: I had several tasting ideas in mind, so the selection was plain sailing.

My order
In the end, these are the bottles I picked:
- Etna Rosso DOC 2022 – Pietradolce
- Valli di Porto Pino IGT “Brama” 2022 – Cantina Mesa
- Saint Joseph Rouge “Couronne de Chabot” 2019 – Yannick Alléno & Michel Chapoutier
- Russian River Valley Chardonnay “Director’s Cut” 2021 – Francis Ford Coppola Winery
- Etna Rosso DOC 2022 – Benanti
- Saint Joseph Blanc “Croix de Chabot” 2021 – Yannick Alléno & Michel Chapoutier
- L’Étoile Chardonnay 2020 – Domaine Rolet
- Crémant de Bourgogne – Domaine Perraud
- Sicilia Syrah DOP “La Clarissa” 2023 – Rallo
Tasting ideas
Apart from a few bottles, the others were picked with very specific tasting ideas in mind.
Etna Rosso: east vs north
- Etna Rosso DOC 2022 – Pietradolce
- Etna Rosso DOC 2022 – Benanti
This tasting compares the two slopes of Etna to explore how the terroir influences the characteristics of the wine.
A journey through Syrah
I already had at home the Crozes-Hermitage Rouge “C’est le Printemps” 2022 by Dard et Ribo, which completes the cycle. So I chose the first three pieces:
- Sicilia Syrah DOP “La Clarissa” 2023 – Rallo
- Valli di Porto Pino IGT “Brama” 2022 – Cantina Mesa
- Saint Joseph Rouge “Couronne de Chabot” 2019 – Yannick Alléno & Michel Chapoutier
This selection makes it possible to travel among the interpretations of the Syrah, from the Rhône to Sicily, by way of a fresh, saline Syrah from Sardinia.
Chardonnay: old world and new world
Initially I had thought of a tasting of wines from around the world, but I came across the Russian River Valley Chardonnay “Director’s Cut” 2021 – Francis Ford Coppola Winery. Being the Chardonnay my current passion, I decided to compare the old and the new world by adding the L’Étoile Chardonnay 2020 – Domaine Rolet.
What has been left out?
- Crémant de Bourgogne – Domaine Perraud: A curiosity dedicated to Valentine's Day.
- Saint Joseph Blanc “Croix de Chabot” 2021 – Yannick Alléno & Michel Chapoutier: A wine which I have already tried, but it deserves another taste.
Conclusion
This order has let me plan several themed tastings and explore terroirs and grape varieties I love. Every bottle is an invitation to discover new flavours and winemaking stories. I can't wait to start these experiences and share them!
