Cave Mont Blanc

Founded in 1983, the cooperative Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et La Salle brings together around 80 small artisan winegrowers, growing about 18–30 ha of vines of Prié Blanc, the only indigenous white grape variety of the Aosta Valley.

The vineyards

The vineyards are among the highest in Europe, lying between 900 and 1 200 m above sea level, still grown on their own roots to preserve the authenticity and health of the plants.
The cooperative follows a “non-interventionist” winemaking approach: fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, with no fining or stabilisation – wines with pure, fresh and mineral aromas.

Grape Varieties and Terroir

The only grape variety grown is Prié Blanc (Blanc de Morgex et La Salle), indigenous to the upper valley, with late budding and an early harvest, perfect for the alpine climate.
The terraced vineyards and low pergolas make the most of the warmth of the soil and the shelter from the wind, typical of the extreme altitudes of the Aosta Valley.

Iconic Wines

  • Blanc de Morgex et La Salle DOC / DOP
A dry white wine, fresh, mineral, with notes of apple and almond – perfect as an aperitif.

  • Extreme Wines
Produced from vines at 1 200 m above sea level, they show aromas of white fruit, flowers, lemon zest and flint; surprising minerality over a clean, acidic base.

  • Glacier – Spumante Metodo Classico
A pas dosé sparkling wine with bottle fermentation, fresh, mineral, ‑ a refined perlage obtained from the highest vines in Europe.

  • Chaudelune – Vin de Glace
Ice wine made from naturally frozen grapes, marked by an intense sweetness balanced by great acidity and elegant oxidative notes; aged in used oak casks.

  • Cuvée des Guides
A traditional method sparkling wine produced entirely at 2 173 m (Pavillon del Mont Fréty), making the most of unique Alpine conditions for an ancestral sparkling wine of great aromatic richness.
