Contadi Castaldi

Founded at the end of the the ’80s from an idea of Vittorio Moretti, already an entrepreneur with Bellavista and in high-end hospitality, Contadi Castaldi takes its name from the old "counties" (Contadi) and their landed producers (Castaldi), a historical nod to the farming origins of the region.

The estate

Today the estate is part of the group Terra Moretti Vino, led by Francesca Moretti since 2020, and focuses on:

• Conservative restoration of the former Fornace Biasca to create an evocative cellar, ideal for ageing on the lees.

• Management of about 160 ha between its own vineyards and grapes supplied in Franciacorta (Adro and the surrounding area).

• A farming model with organic and integrated viticulture, respectful of the terroir and of sustainability.

The terroir

The vineyards are sheltered by Monte Alto, with a continental microclimate tempered by Lake Iseo. The soils are of marine sedimentary origin: limestone, marl and sandstone, ideal for Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Pinot Bianco.

The Most Notable Labels

• Franciacorta Brut: Blend of Chardonnay (dominant), Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero. Ageing on the lees for 20-26 months, fine bubbles, freshness and creamy softness.

• Satèn: The estate's first vintage Satèn, with lower pressure and a very silky perlage.

• Rosé & Vintage: Wines of elegant structure, with balanced acidity and a refined perlage.

• Blànc: An innovative Blanc de Blancs with 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Bianco, the result of twenty years of experimentation; citrus and almond aromas, a vertical, mineral palate.

• Curtefranca DOC Bianco: a still wine, another complementary expression of the area.
