Domaine du Pegau
The History of Domaine du Pégau
The
Domaine du Pégau has a fascinating history going back to
1670. Our ancestors devoted their lives to expanding this prestigious vineyard, bringing it to cover an area of
22 hectares. Elvire, wife of Léon Feraud, was a key figure, contributing to the growth of the
domaine and raising four children. The youngest, Paul, began working in the family vineyard at the age of
14 years. In the
1964, decided to embark on a personal adventure, starting to produce and market
2000 bottles of wine a year. This was only the beginning of a journey that would make the Domaine a respected name in the world of wine.
Il Ritorno di Laurence
In the
1987, Laurence, daughter of Paul and Odette, decided to return to Châteauneuf-du-Pape after completing her studies in viticulture and the wine trade. She suggested to her parents that they create a
domaine independent family-run business of
5 hectares and registered the name
Pégau, inspired by an ancient
pichet used in the
14th century.
The Terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The
terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is unique, with a climate ideal for viticulture. The climatic conditions, marked by plenty of sun and constant wind, favour the growth of native grape varieties. This special environment helps to produce high-quality wines, appreciated all over the world.
