Firriato

Firriato is one of the best-known wineries of Sicily, founded in the ‘80s by Salvatore and Vinzia Di Gaetano. The estate has built its reputation on making the most of indigenous grape varieties and of the diversity of Sicilian terroirs.

With vineyards located between Trapani, Etna and the Egadi Islands, Firriato manages to express the essence of Sicilian viticulture, combining tradition and innovation. The estate is also a benchmark for organic viticulture, with certified production and a strong commitment to sustainability.

The Firriato Method

The vineyards spread over three main terroirs:
  • The Estates of Trapani: limestone and sandy soils, perfect for Nero d’Avola and Grillo.
  • The vineyards of Etna: volcanic soils and high altitudes, ideal for Nerello Mascalese and Carricante.
  • The island of Favignana: one of the few wineries with vineyards in a unique coastal setting, which gives the wines freshness and minerality.
Winemaking is carried out with controlled fermentations and ageing in stainless steel or oak, depending on the style of wine, to bring out its balance and expressiveness to the full.
