Françoise Bedel is one of the most influential producers in the world of Biodynamic Champagne. The adventure began in the 70s in the Vallée de la Marne, one of the areas best suited to growing Pinot Meunier. Convinced that the land should express itself authentically, she converted her estate to biodynamics in the 90s, adopting an approach that respects the environment and the natural cycle of the vine.

The company works according to the principles of Rudolf Steiner, with natural treatments and minimal use of sulphites in the cellar. The result is a range of Champagnes that are complex, long-lived and full of personality, able to tell the story of the terroir without compromise.

The Françoise Bedel Method

The vines of the maison lie on soils rich in clay and limestone, ideal for producing Champagne with marked minerality and depth. Winemaking involves spontaneous fermentations, extended ageing on the lees and minimal use of dosage, to preserve the purity of the fruit.The choice of Pinot Meunier as the main grape variety gives the wines an enveloping structure and an extraordinary capacity to evolve in the bottle. Alongside Meunier, other varieties are also grown: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, used in blends to add elegance and complexity to the cuvées.
