I Vigneri

I Vigneri is a wine project born thanks to Salvo Foti, one of the greatest interpreters of the viticulture ofEtna. The name is inspired by the winegrowers' guild founded in 1435 at Catania, and the project aims to bring back to life the old farming practices of the area.

The philosophy of the winery is based on mountain viticulture, manual work and environmentally respectful practices. The vines lie between 600 and 1200 metres above sea level, on volcanic soils that give the wines a unique mineral character.

The I Vigneri Method

The vineyards are grown using the traditional Etna bush training, a technique that allows the plants to adapt perfectly to the extreme conditions of the volcanic soil and the mountain climate. No chemicals are used: the grapes are picked by hand and vinified without selected yeasts, letting the terroir express itself in a pure and authentic way.Ageing takes place in large wooden casks and amphorae, according to local tradition, to keep the typical character of the wines intact.

The Wines of I Vigneri

I Vigneri Rosso

A Nerello Mascalese of great elegance, with hints of red fruit, spice and a light smoky note. Fine tannins and surprising freshness make it perfect with grilled meats and aged cheeses.

Vinupetra Etna Rosso DOC

A more structured wine, produced from old bush-trained vines. Deep and complex, with aromas of cherry, graphite and balsamic notes.

Aurora Etna Bianco DOC

A Carricante mineral and savoury, with aromas of citrus, white flowers and flint. Ideal with fish and shellfish dishes.

Vino di Anna Rosato

A rosé from Nerello Mascalese vinified in amphora, with a fresh, spicy profile, with notes of wild strawberry and pomegranate.
